Ann Curry
Ann Curry was born in America and is an accomplished photographer as well as a journalist. For more than forty-five years, she's focused her work on reporting the suffering of people, particularly when natural catastrophes or war are occurring. Curry was noted especially for her reporting on human rights issues in war-stricken countries and on natural disasters. Curry was born in Japan, and brought up by an Japanese mother. Her father served as a U.S. Navy sailor. After World War II, her parents began to meet while her father was serving in Japan. Because of her father's military duty, the family travelled frequently. Curry graduated from high school at Ashland Oregon. Curry graduated from the University of Oregon awarded her an undergraduate degree in journalism. The exposure she received to different cultures and environments in her early years is likely to have influenced the compassion in her approach to issues of international significance. Curry could not be a student at a particular school in the cities of San Diego, Alameda Oregon, or Virginia over the course of two years, due to her family moved often. Ashland was her final high school. She started a new career path that would lead to a lucrative career by working as an intern at broadcasting station KTVL Channel 10 Medford. She was the first female news correspondent at this station, at age 22. Then she was promoted to the position of an anchor as well as reporter at KGW which was an NBC affiliate located in Portland, Oregan. In Los Angeles, she became a reporter on KCBS TV just four years after having moved into the city. It was during her time with the channel for a period of the duration of six years that she won the two Emmy Awards.
